Volunteering

We are very lucky to have many brilliant volunteers who help us to care for Limpsfield Common, while getting some exercise, learning new skills, sharing knowledge and meeting new friends.

The Guardians

The Guardians are our brilliant group of around 20 community spirited lovers of Limpsfield Common, who go out for regular walks, litter picking as they go. They are the Wombles of Limpsfield Common if you will, and keep our beautiful area clean and tidy! They are managed by Peter Beard and are always looking for more volunteers. Equipment provided. Email: pbeard_41saxbys@yahoo.co.uk

General Volunteers

We are always very happy to hear from people who would be happy to volunteer for general jobs around the common, helping out at open days, fairs and other fundraising or awareness activities. Contact us on our general email – friendsoflimpsfieldcommon@gmail.com

Heritage Group

If you’re passionate about history and Limpsfield Common, why not join our Heritage Group – a band of enthusiastic history loving folk who help us identify and monitor all the fabulous historical sites we have a around the Common. If you’re interested in getting involved for a few hours a month, please email Tony Pearson, tony2.pearson@btinternet.com.

The Thursday Task Force

The Task Force is our friendly volunteer group of woodland managers who meet every Thursday morning, come rain or shine, at a pre-arranged NT car park somewhere around Limpsfield Common or High Chart!

Task Force members don their hi-vis vests, and under the watchful eyes of the lead manager and National Trust Rangers, carry out a wide range of jobs from tree felling, clearing, burning, sawing and chopping, to clearing bracken, dead-hedging, heather plugging and scraping!

There’s never a dull moment and it’s thirsty work, which is why there’s the reward of a pint at the Carpenters Arms at the end of a few hours of hard graft!

Whilst numbers for the Task Force are strictly limited for safety reasons, we do have availability from time to time, so you can apply to be on the waiting list.

Our friends on the nearby site of the Oxted Downs may need Task Force volunteers, so please Drop us an email  to apply or to find out more.
